Stephen T. Webb assumed the role of Associate General Counsel and Athletics Advisor to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel in July 2025. In this role, Webb’s primary responsibilities relate to legal matters involving ASU’s Department of Sun Devil Athletics.

Before joining ASU’s OGC staff full-time as an attorney and starting in 2011, Webb served as SDA’s Chief Athletics Compliance Officer, where he led Arizona State University's Athletics Compliance Office. Webb was named Special Counsel in January 2019 and, in that role, began assisting with sports law matters. At ASU, Webb has also served as a faculty associate in ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law where he taught Amateur Sports Law, NCAA Compliance and Infractions, and (in 2017) the History of Baseball with Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball, Bud Selig. Webb’s previous experience includes over ten years working at the NCAA’s national office and its Eligibility Center. Before that, Webb was an associate in Kirkland & Ellis LLP’s Chicago office where he practiced intellectual property litigation.

Webb obtained his B.S. from Northern Illinois University where he was a baseball student-athlete. He graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law in 2002 and earned induction into the Order of the Coif.

Webb is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Arizona (Rule 38). He is also admitted to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
