Kim Demarchi, as Vice President for Legal Affairs and Deputy General Counsel, focuses on special projects and initiatives, litigation and claims, academic and non-academic personnel matters, and student matters.  She also provides administrative oversight to the Athletics Compliance group, which designs and administers education and monitoring systems that facilitate compliance by the University with all University, Pacific-12 Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics.

Prior to joining the Office of General Counsel, Kim was in private practice in Phoenix where her primary areas of practice were government law, education law, and appellate advocacy.  She is an elected member of the American Law Institute and the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, the co-editor of the Arizona Appellate Handbook, and a past president of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association.  She also serves on the Arizona Supreme Court’s Attorney Ethics Advisory Committee and on the Research Committee of the Arizona Town Hall. 

A native of Tucson, Arizona, Kim is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Barrett Honors College (B.S. History/B.S. Political Science 1997) and of the Yale Law School (J.D. 2000).  She is admitted to practice law in Arizona; the U.S. District Court for the State of Arizona; the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth, Ninth, and Federal Circuits; and the Supreme Court of the United States.
