Mackenzie “Mac” Woods serves as Associate General Counsel within the transactional group of OGC. Mac’s work focuses on affiliated entity governance, special projects, technology contracts, general commercial transactions, and various corporate matters.
Always focused on education and social impact issues, Mac has worked in both private practice and as in-house counsel. He came to ASU from Osborn Maledon, P.A. where he advised charter, district, university, and nonprofit clients on a variety of regulatory and transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships. Before that, Mac served as Deputy General Counsel at BASIS.ed, a charter school management company operating schools across the country, where he was responsible for a wide variety of corporate and regulatory matters.
As a native New Mexican, Mac received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of New Mexico before heading to Memphis to serve as an 8th grade science teacher at Raleigh Egypt Middle School with Teach For America. Longing for a return to the mountains of the Southwest, he is a graduate of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at ASU and is admitted to practice law in Arizona. Mac is a proud husband and father who enjoys paragliding and backpacking when he’s not on the clock.
