Jenae is an Associate General Counsel who represents ASU in connection with license agreements, copyright and trademark issues, and EdPlus projects and initiatives. She also assists with cybersecurity, privacy and data protection issues. Previously, Jenae was a transactional attorney for the cities of Tempe and Scottsdale, where she advised on software licenses, copyright, trademarks, and patents, wired and wireless telecommunications issues, art contracts, First Amendment and social media issues, electronic communications, emergency management, and general municipal law.
For her work on diversity and inclusion issues relating to the legal profession Jenae received the State Bar of Arizona President’s Award in 2006 and the award for Outstanding Achievement Advancing Equal Opportunity in the Profession in 2005.
Jenae is a former Chair of both the State Bar of Arizona’s E-Commerce and Technology Section and the Committee on Minorities and Women in the Law. She is also the former Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division.
Prior to her municipal career, she was a litigation associate with the Lewis & Roca law firm and a judicial law clerk for Justice James Duke Cameron on the Arizona Supreme Court. Jenae holds a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota and was an Articles Editor for its Law and Inequality Journal. She was also a Managing Editor for the Arizona State Law Journal (while a visiting law student at ASU).
