Karen Liepmann is an Associate General Counsel in the Office of General Counsel at Arizona State University, where she represents ASU in connection with business transactions, technology, privacy, data security, and intellectual property. Before joining ASU, Karen represented public, private, non-profit, and tribal entities in private practice in Phoenix for over 26 years.
Karen is rated AV Preeminent® by Martindale-Hubbell. Karen has received several commendations by her professional peers, including being recognized in (i) The Best Lawyers in America®, 2011-2014; (ii) “Best of Arizona” in Corporate Law, Franchise Law, Healthcare Law, and Intellectual Property Law in 2010 and 2011 by Ranking Arizona; (iii) Arizona's Top Lawyers; and (iv) Best of the Bar.
Karen was the President of the State Bar of Arizona's Business Law Section and has served as co-chair of that Section's committee to update Arizona's corporate and partnership laws. Karen's civic involvement includes chairing the 2005 Arizona Venture Capital Conference, serving for many years as a judge for ASU's Edson Entrepreneurship Competition, and serving on numerous profit and non-profit boards.
Karen is a graduate of ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law (L.L.M. Biotech and Genomics, 2008), Boston College Law School (J.D. 1987), and Weslevan University (B.A. and MALS. 1983).
